This short Northern Lights break takes you to the town of Kirkenes - located close to the Russian border, with stay at the amazing Snow hotel & an adventurous Northern Lights trip with dog sledge. Starting & finishing with overnight stays in Oslo. Duration 4 nights.
Optional: you can add an adventurous King Crab fishing trip or a Snowmobile safari
Independent/unescorted trip with escorted activities.

Day 1 - Overnight in Oslo

Individual arrival to Oslo. Check in at the Park Inn hotel at Gardermoen, conveniently located within walking distance of the airport. 

 

The centre of Oslo is located 20 mins from the airport with the frequent Airport Express train.

Day 2 - Flight Oslo-Kirkenes

Morning flight to the Arctic town of Kirkenes; "the top of the world", located by the Barents sea and close to the Russian border. Individual arrival to a centrally located hotel.

Wilderness Dog sledding

Hunting the Northern lights - time to explore the town before you will be picked up at your hotel in the evening for an adventurous 2 hour Northern Lights trip to the wilderness of the Pasvik valley, with Husky dog sledding.

What to bring: Comfortable shoes, warm and windproof clothing (special clothing will be provided).
Age restrictions: Min. 7 years old and accompanied by an adult.
Difficulty level: Average physical condition – involves physical activity on uneven surface and/or steep terrain. Not suitable if you have limited mobility. 

Transfer to your hotel after the trip.

Day 3 - Stay at the Snow Hotel

Enjoy an unforgettable overnight stay at the exotic Snow hotel located a short drive from Kirkenes - a beautiful piece of architecture with ice sculptures, surrounded by live reindeers in the Reindeer Safari Park. You can also take part in the feeding of the reindeers.

Included: Transfer from your hotel in Kirkenes, followed by a 3 course Arctic dinner, overnight in warm sleeping bags, sauna in the morning & breakfast. Information about the stay at the Snow hotel

Day 4 - Flight Kirkenes-Oslo

Breakfast at the Snow hotel, then transfer to the centre of Kirkenes before your flight to Oslo. Take a taxi or the airport bus to the airport.

Overnight at a centrally located hotel in Oslo (optional: stay at the airport hotel).

The Northern Lights:

The Northern Lights - nature's own light show - are solar winds that meet the atmosphere in a zone around the magnetic North Pole, forming arches, waves and curls of light moving across the sky, with sudden rays of light shooting down from space.

The Northern Lights are visible between November and March when the sky is clear, depending on the Northern Lights activity.

The Arctic town of Kirkenes is located in the middle of the Northern Lights zone
