Day 1 - Oslo & Hotel Continental

Day 2 - Oslo-Flam-Sognefjord

Bergen line, Flam Railway & Fjord cruise: Morning train departure from Oslo on  the scenic Bergen line  across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau to the mountain station of Myrdal, where you change to the famous Flam Railway, taking you through hairpin bends down to sea level and the Sognefjord.

 

In Flam you board  the express boat for a beautiful fjord cruise from Flam to Balestrand, on the Aurlandsfjord branch & the main Sognefjord.

 

Spend 2 nights at the historic Kvikne's hotel, room with fjord view in the old wooden wing. Excellent Norwegian buffet dinner is included

Day 3 - Relaxing day in Balestrand

Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the fjord view, the mountains, a relaxing walk in this tiny village with a long and interesting history, the clean air and the tranquility.

 

Some sights in Balestrand:

The tiny, English church, the typical Swiss style wooden villas, the scenic Cultural trail, the tiny aquarium, Art galleries. Excellent, well marked trails. Guided tours available 

 

About the Kvikne's hotel:
the historic wooden wing is built in the "Swiss style", and the hotel is graced with an extensive collection of antiques and authentic artworks.  The Kvikne family has been the hosts since 1877

Day 4 - Fjord cruise to Bergen

Express boat cruise on the Sognefjord and along the scenic coast line to Bergen. Individual check in at the centrally located Radisson Blu Royal hotel, located at the Bryggen wharf, upgraded room. Spend 2 nights in Bergen. Read more about Bergen

Day 5 - Bergen at leisure

Enjoy a full day to explore the sights of Bergen, the picturesque, hanseatic town, surrounded by 7 mountains, fjords & islands, with the old Bryggen wharf (UNESCO World Heritage site), the Fish market & the Aquarium.

Things to do:
-Take a hop-on hop-off city sightseeing
-Take the Funicular to the top of mount Floyen, marvellous view of the city
-Take the cable car to the top of mount Ulriken, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding fjords & islands
- Visit the authentic, picturesque areas with tiny, wooden houses & narrow streets at the Nordnes peninsula & the hillside around the Funicular station

Day 6 - Flight Bergen-Oslo

Morning flight to Oslo. Enjoy the 2 hour classic Oslo Fjord sightseeing in the afternoon, passing through narrow sounds, idyllic bays and a maze of islands with small summer houses.
