Day 1 - Overnight in Oslo

Individual arrival and check in at a centrally located hotel.
Some sights in Oslo: the Vigeland sculpture park, the Opera house, the Viking ship museum, Edvard Munch museum, Akershus fortress, the City hall, the Astrup Fearnley museum of contemporary art & the Holmenkollen ski jump.

Day 2 - Train Oslo-Bergen

Late morning train from Oslo on the scenic Bergen line across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, with the highest point at an altitude of 1222 ms above sea level (Finse station).

Day 3 - Bergen

Full day to explore the sights of Bergen, with the old Bryggen wharf included in the UNESCO World heritage list, the funicular to mount Floyen - offering a marvellous view of the city & surrounding islands - the Fish Market & the authentic hillside areas with tiny old wooden houses

Day 4 - Bergen-Balestrand

Sognefjord cruise & the Coast. Morning express boat cruise along the scenic coast north of Bergen, passing through narrow straits, islands, summer houses and tiny villages. Then into the majestic Sognefjord, cruising on the fjord to the scenic fjord village of Balestrand.

Day 5 - Relaxing day in Balestrand

Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the fjord view, the mountains, a relaxing walk in this tiny village with a long and interesting history, the clean air and the tranquility.

 

Some sights in Balestrand: the tiny English church, the typical Swiss style wooden villas, the scenic Cultural trail, the tiny aquarium, Art galleries. Excellent, well marked trails.

Day 6 - Sognefjord-Flam-Oslo

Fjord cruise, Flam Railway & Bergen line: Enjoy the express steamer cruise to the inner parts of Sognefjord and the fjord vilage of Flam, where you change to the famous Flam Railway, taking you through the scenic Flam valley with rivers and waterfalls, to the mountain station of Myrdal.
Change to the main Bergen line, taking you across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and National Park to Oslo, with late evening arrival.
