Photo: The spectacular Oslo Opera House, designed by the Norwegian firm Snøhetta, opened in April 2008. The Opera House won the culture award at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona in October 2008and the 2009 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture (Mies van der Rohe award).
The Opera house is within walking distance of the city centre, located in the Bjorvika waterfront, near the Oslo central station. It can slo be reached by the hop-on hop-off mini cruise from the City Hall pier.
