Day 1 - Overnight in Oslo

Individual arrival to Oslo. Check in at the centrally located, classic Hotel Continental, with excellent restaurants. This family owned hotel is Norway's only member of "The Leading Hotels of the World".

 

Spend 1 night in Oslo

Day 2 - Oslo-Balestrand

Bergen line & Flam Railway: Enjoy great train journeys - the scenic Bergen mountain train line across the Hardangervidda National Park to the Myrdal station, where you change to the famous Flam Railway, taking you through the spectacular Flam valley with waterfalls, rivers and mountain peaks down to the Sognefjord

Sognefjord cruise: In Flam you board the express steamer for a scenic fjord cruise on the Aurlandsfjord branch and the main Sognefjord to the beautiful fjord village of Balestrand.

 

Overnight in Balestrand at the beautifully located Kvikne's Hotel. Room with Fjord view in the historic wing. Norwegian buffet dinner is included.

Day 3 - Balestrand-Bergen

Fjord cruise: Express steamer cruise on the Sognefjord and along the scenic coast line to Bergen, with narrow straits, islands & skerries.

 

You will arrive directly to the heart of Bergen waterfront, close to the Fish market, within walking distance of your hotel (5 min walk), the new, centrally located Hotel Opus XVI

Day 4 - Bergen at leisure

Spend the day in Bergen; take the Funicular to the top of mount Floyen, offering a marvelous view, visit the authentic areas with tiny wooden houses & narrow streets at the hillside & Nordnes peninsula, the Aquarium, the UNESCO Bryggen wharf

Evening cruise departure

The cruise departure is at 8PM, take a short taxi ride from your hotel to the pier. Spend 6 nights on board. 

All meals are included during the cruise; buffet breakfast, buffet lunch & 3 course dinner (food only)

Day 5 - Geirangerfjord cruise

Morning arrival to the Art Nouveau town of Alesund before the ship continues to the scenic Geirangerfjord (02.06-01.09), now a UNESCO World heritage site, with the famous "7 sisters" waterfalls. Disembark in tender boats in Geiranger for the excursion

The Golden Route excursion (02.06-01.09)

Enjoy the spectacular land excursion across the dramatic "Golden Route" - the Eagles road offering a spectacular view of the Geirangerfjord & the breathtaking Trollstigen hairpin road.

Day 6 - Cruise-Trondheim

Main port will be the historic city of Trondheim, with its picturesque quarters of tiny, old wooden houses. In Trondheim you will aslo find the Nidaros Cathedral - Norway's only cathedral. Spend 4 hours at leisure in the city, or take an optional sightseeing tour.

Day 7
- Cruise-Lofoten Islands

Crossing the Arctic Circle & Bodo
The ship will cross the Arctic circle before it heads towards the beautifully located Arctic town of Bodo, with the famous Saltstraumen maelstrom.

Enjoy a couple of hours in Bodo before the ship sails across the Vestfjord to the beautiful Lofoten Islands, with majestic rock formations and tiny fishing settlements.

 

Raftsund strait & Trollfjord; Leaving the main port of Svolvaer the ship sails in to the very narrow Raftsund strait and the dramatic, narrow Trollfjord (depending on the weather conditions)

Day 8 - Cruise-Tromso

Into a magnificent archipelago to the north after the Vesteralen islands, then on to the beautifully located Arctic town of Tromso, also known as the 'Paris of the North'. Tromso is the world's northenmost University town.

 

Spend 4 hours at leisure in the city, or join one of the optional sightseeing trips

Day 9 - North Cape excursion

Early morning call at Hammerfest, the world's northernmost town, also important for the Norwegian oil industry. Then on to Havoysund & Honningsvag, where you will join the exotic North Cape land excursion to the North Cape cliff - northernmost point of Europe

After the North Cape excursion the ship cruises along Finnmark's barren coast, passing the Svaerholdtklubben Bird Colony and the spectacular rock formation of Finnkjerkja.

Day 10 - Flight Kirkenes-Oslo

Cruise along the north and east of the Finnmark coast to the Arctic town of Kirkenes, situated close to the Russian Border.


Disembark in Kirkenes, then a flight to Oslo. Spend 2 nights in Oslo at the Hotel Continental

Day 11 - The main sights of Oslo

4 hour city sightseeing including the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Holmenkollen Ski Jump & the Fram museum or the Kon-Tiki museum. Late morning departure.

 

In the evening you can join the very popular evening cruise on the Oslo fjord on a traditional sailing yacht, including a traditional, Norwegian prawn buffet. (optional/additional costs)
