Winter Cruise & Northern Lights - 7 nights

Enjoy an amazing winter Cruise package with a 4 nights authentic Hurtigruten cruise along the beautiful Norwegian coast to the Arctic town of Tromso, with calls at the historic town of Trondheim, the beautifully located Arctic town of Bodo, tiny coastal towns & Fishing settlements. You can add optional land excursions en route. In Tromso you will join a Northern Lights/Aurora Safari to remote Arctic areas, offering perfect conditions for hunting the amazing Northern Lights. You can add more nights and activities in Tromso. Overnight stays in the picturesque coastal town of Bergen, the Arctic town of Tromso and the Norwegian capital Oslo.

Day 1 - Bergen

Individual arrival and check in at the centrally located Scandic Neptun Hotel or similar. Bergen is known for the picturesque UNESCO Bryggen wharf, the Funicular to mount Floyen offering a marvellous view of the city, the Fish Market & the hillsides with tiny wooden houses.

Day 2 - Bergen & Cruise departure

Spend the day at leisure in Bergen before your afternoon transfer to one of the authentic Hurtigruten ships. Evening meal included. Cruise departure at 22:30. Spend 4 nights onboard.

 

All meals are included during the cruise (Buffet breakfast, buffet lunch & 3 course dinner. Food only)

Day 3 - Cruise & Alesund

Arrival to the Art Nouveau town of Alesund at noon. Spend 3 hours at leisure in the city, or take an optional sightseeing tour, before the ship sails towards the coastal cities of Molde and Kristiansund.


Alesund is located in the middle of a dramatic archipelago of islands, fjords and mountain peaks.

 

The pier is centrally located, with easy walk to the unique, picturesque Art Noveau town, rebuilt after the dramatic fire in january 1904, ruining the entire city of wooden houses due to a strong storm, but luckily only 1 person died in the fire.

Day 4 - Cruise & Trondheim

Through the wide Trondheim fjord to the picturesque, historic city of Trondheim. Spend 4 hours at leisure, or take an optional sightseeing tour.

 

In Trondheim you will find several areas with well kept, historic, tiny wooden houses, like Bakklandet, Dronningensgate street and Ilsvikora.

 

Norway's only cathedral; Nidarosdomen, is located in the centre of Trondheim. You will also find the tiny, old, red bridge "Gamle Bybro" crossing the Nidelven river to Bakklandet, close to the Nidarosdomen cathedral

Day 5 - Bodo & Lofoten Islands

Cross the Arctic Circle & call at the Arctic town of  Bodo, beautifully located surrounded by dramatic, Arctic scenery. Time to explore the town before the ship continues across the Vest fjord to the Lofoten Islands, with calls at the fishing villages of Stamsund & Svolvaer in the evening. Optional land excursion: Lofotr Viking feast

Day 6 - Cruise arrival to Tromso

Cruising into a magnificent archipelago to the north, then on to the university town of Tromso, also known as the 'Paris of the North'. Disembark after lunch and check in at the close by Scandic Ishavshotel or similar.

 

Hunting the Northern Lights - Adventure Trip
In the early evening you will be picked up in the centre of Tromso for an adventurous Aurora Safari. Four base stations are set up at different locations, and the best one for the evening is chosen, depending on the weather reports. Each base has its own local English speaking guide, a warm shelter and camp fire. Northern lights film shown on the bus.

Day 7 - Flight Tromso-Oslo

Flight from Tromso to Oslo, appr. 2 hours. Overnight at the centrally located Bristol hotel (or similar), or at an airport hotel at your choice.

In Oslo you can visit the Edvard Munch Museum, the modern Opera House, the Viking ship museum, the Holmenkollen Ski jump & the scenic Vigeland Sculpture Park
