The Grand Tour of the Fjords

Day 1 - Arrival to Oslo

Individual arrival and check in at a centrally located hotel. Spend 2 nights in Oslo

Day 2 - Oslo city sightseeing

Enjoy a late morning 4 hour guided City sightseeing,  

including the Viking ships, the Vigeland sculpture park & the Holmekollen Ski Jump

Day 3 - Oslo-Andalsnes-Alesund

Rauma line. Train Oslo-Dombas through the scenic Gudbrandsdal valley. Change to the spectacular Rauma line, taking you through the dramatic Romsdal valley with mountain peaks, rivers & waterfalls. Connecting bus to the picturesque Art Nouveau town of Alesund. Spend 3 nights in Alesund

Day 4 - Geirangerfjord cruise

Board one of the Norwegian Coastal Voyage Hurtigruten ships in the morning for a full day cruise to the scenic Geirangerfjord, offering views of the spectacular "Seven sisters" waterfalls. The Geirangerfjord is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

 

Please note that it is not possible to disembark the ship in Geiranger. You can book the extensive buffet lunch in the dining room when you embark in Alesund, alternatively there is a self service cafeteria onboard.

Day 5 - Alesund - full day at leisure

Time at leisure and a full day to explore the picturesque Art Noveau town or the surrounding islands, like the spectacular Runde bird island. There are excellent hiking areas close to the town. Visit the tourist office for further details.

Day 6 - Alesund-Nordfjord

Travel by local, comfortable coach through scenic fjord areas to the tiny village of Loen, beautifully situated by the fjord. 2 nights in Nordfjord

Day 7 - Briksdal Valley & Glacier

Coach trip to the scenic Briksdal valley. Walk appr 45 mins to the famous Briksdal glacier, or use the optional transport (small cars - appr NOK 250 pp return fare).

Day 8 - Nordfjord-Bergen

Travel by local, comfortable coach along the shore of the Nordfjord, across the Utvik mountain road offering a marvelous view of the fjord, via the scenic lake Jolster and the remote outer parts of the Sognefjord to Bergen. 2 nights in Bergen

Day 9 - Bergen - full day at leisure

Full day to explore the Hanseatic city, with the picturesque areas of tiny wooden houses and narrow streets. Optional city sightseeing to Troldhaugen - the composer Edvard Grieg's home and the Fantoft Stave Church.

Day 10 - Bergen-Sognefjord-Oslo

Sognefjord cruise & Flam Railway. Enjoy the extensive fjord cruise from Bergen to the very inner parts of the Sognefjord and the village of Flam, where you board the amazing Flam Railway. Change to the main Bergen line taking you across the scenic Hardangervidda mountain plateau to Oslo.

Flam Railway

The spectacular Flam Railway takes you through breathtaking scenery with waterfalls, rivers and mountain peaks to the Myrdal mountain station. Approaching Myrdal station you will have amazing views of the Flam valley, and the train normally makes a short stop at the impressive Kjosfossen waterfall.
